Throughout his career, Don Rix had supported laboratory quality including providing a donation in 2007 that supported the establishment of the Program Office for Laboratory Quality Management. Don Rix’s rich history in quality and research will continue to be recognized through his daughter, Laurie Rix’s generous donation, and the Provost’s matching funding, that will enable the creation of the Rix Professorship in Laboratory Quality, a grant tenure track appointment. The creation of this appointment will allow the successful successor to build upon foundations of Education, Outreach, and Research activities of Clinical Microbiology Proficiency Testing program and Program Office for Laboratory Quality.
