2026 Award Categories
There are eleven awards this year, recognizing everyone from first-year trainees to colleagues with a lifetime of service. Click Nominate to open the nomination form for that award. You are welcome to nominate in more than one category.
Excellence in Clinical Service
Distinction in enhancing patient care through laboratory services. One award for academic and university hospital settings, one for community and rural settings.
Excellence in Mentoring
Distinction in mentoring by faculty that has positively impacted faculty, staff, students, or trainees.
Education Award
Excellence in teaching. One award for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral education; one for resident and fellow education and professional development.
Research and Discovery Award
Outstanding faculty researchers. One award for early-career (within 7 years of appointment), one for mid- to senior-career.
Suzanne Vercauteren Leadership Award
For clinical faculty who show all-around excellence, leadership, innovative clinical service, and integrity and humanity.
David Hardwick Lifetime Achievement Award
The Golden Bow Tie. For extraordinary members of the department with sustained, distinguished careers in research, teaching, and service.
Staff Service Award
Staff who show collaboration, quality work, adaptability, and critical thinking. One award for administrative staff, one for technicians and technologists.
Most Valuable Player Award
Like a sports MVP: the person who contributed the most this year to the visibility, functioning, and success of our team.
Community Engagement and Philanthropy Award
For any member of the department who engages with the wider community or supports philanthropy that benefits the department, faculty, or university.
Dana Devine Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award
For any member of the department with a sustained record of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, or their unit.
Trainee Awards
For PALM trainees who add to the vitality of the program and excel in research or clinical care. One award each for MSc, PhD, and post-doc/fellow/resident.
