The supervisor should:

- familiarize themselves with the requirements of the directed studies course;
- prepare a paragraph or two describing the project, including a project title) that the student will be working on using the online Project Summary Form;
- at completion of the project, read the student’s written report (in the form of a research paper, format to follow a journal appropriate to the field) prior to submission to ensure that the student is properly educated in writing scientific papers;
- be prepared to evaluate the student based on the following guidelines using the online Evaluation Form:
