Dr. Sophia Park is a laboratory physician and former division head of medical biochemistry at Royal Columbian Hospital. She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School’s Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership (SQIL) Program, during which time her capstone project was selected as one of the top three proposals. Sophia was previously the physician lead for Spreading Quality Improvement (SQI) at Fraser Health. Her own quality improvement project has spread successfully to 69 laboratories across British Columbia.

Sophia is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and is a recipient of a number of teaching awards. She is currently the course coordinator for PATH 406 Clinical Chemistry, and past director of the UBC medical biochemistry residency training program. Sophia has served in various leadership roles in laboratory medicine, in medical education, and in the medical community, and for her contributions she was named by Business in Vancouver as a Top 40 Under 40 award recipient. Aside from quality improvement, Sophia is also passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine, and sits on the leadership team of Equity in Medicine, a national non-profit organization.
