Dr. Adriana Airo is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia and serves as a Clinical Microbiologist and Program Head for the High Volume Serology Laboratory at the BC Centre for Disease Control. With a background in virology and microbiology, Dr. Airo’s research has focused on viral-host interactions, particularly with flaviviruses such as Zika virus, and more recently on SARS-CoV-2 detection methods. She completed her clinical microbiology fellowship training at multiple institutions in Toronto, including Public Health Ontario, Mount Sinai Hospital, and SickKids. Dr. Airo has received numerous awards for her scholarship, including the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate PhD Scholarship and the Norman Bethune Award from the University of Toronto.
