Dr. Bissonnette is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and an Associate member of the Division of Nephrology, and she has been a renal pathologist at St. Paul’s Hospital since 2015. She is the Director of the BC Provincial Renal Pathology Laboratory, which is the centralized laboratory for all renal biopsies in British Columbia.

Her research interests are diverse and include molecular expression of disease states including transplant rejection. She is also leading several province-wide quality initiatives related to medical kidney biopsies.

Dr. Bissonnette received her BA in Biophysics (2001) at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD), and then completed her MD-PhD at Northwestern University (Chicago, IL) in 2010 as part of the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program. She then completed her medical training with anatomic pathology residency (2014) and renal pathology fellowship (2015) at The University of Chicago.
