Deepu Alex, M.D., Ph.D., is a Consultant Pathologist at BC Cancer Agency and Clinical Assistant Professor at Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, The University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology and Cytopathology. He received his medical degree from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India and his doctoral degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Medstar-Georgetown University Hospital, Washington D.C. He has completed fellowship training in Oncologic Surgical Pathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology and Cytopathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. He is actively involved in various professional societies in Pathology. His areas of research interest include molecular testing of cytology specimens, molecular profiling of lung cancers and, development of advanced molecular techniques for clinical testing.
