Workspace

File sharing has become a prominent tool for our daily tasks as we move towards a collaborative and innovative nature in today’s society. UBC IT is pleased to announce the official launch of UBC Workspace, UBC’s first dedicated file sharing service. This cloud-based service, hosted on-site at UBC, was chosen based on its ability to meet faculty and staff requests for ways to share files securely (by folders) with colleagues within the UBC network and with non-UBC employees on external networks.

Similar to other cloud-based file sharing systems such as Dropbox®, Workspace provides the added security of UBC hosted data servers that meet BC legislative and UBC privacy and security requirements. All staff and faculty members with Enterprise Active Directory (EAD) account credentials can start using the service. All Workspace accounts come with 20GB of storage at no cost. Those who need more storage can purchase it at a nominal cost.
