Short Bio:

Dr. Monika Hudoba graduated from Komensky University Medical School in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. Upon arrival in Canada she worked in Thrombosis research with Dr. Jeffrey Weitz at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She completed postgraduate training in Hematological Pathology at the University of Toronto in 1997. After graduation from residency, Dr. Hudoba took a hematopathology staff position at the Royal University Hospital, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In 2000 Dr. Hudoba accepted a Hematopathology position at Vancouver General Hospital with a focus on acute leukemias, and teaching and training of medical students, residents and hematology fellows. In 2001 she was promoted to the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor and became a member of the Hematological Pathology Postgraduate Residency Training Committee at University of British Columbia.

In 2002 Dr Hudoba left VGH to become Discipline Head of the Hematology Division at MDS Metro Laboratories, Burnaby, BC. In 2006 she returned to VGH as the Division head of Hematopathology and the Regional Medical Discipline Leader of Laboratory Hematology for Vancouver Coastal Health. She was a Program Director of the UBC Hematological Pathology Postgraduate Residency Program from 2010 to 2014.  More recently, Dr Hudoba was promoted to the rank of Clinical Associate Professor at UBC.
