The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLSc) is an undergraduate science degree in the Faculty of Medicine. We offer an exciting opportunity to learn from faculty and researchers in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, who are recognized as national and international leaders in both basic and clinical research.

BMLSc students learn the theoretical knowledge in a broad range of subjects as well as practical, hands-on experience in a variety of lab techniques.  Classes are held on campus in the UBC Hospital.

Students enter Year 3 of the program and complete two years of study in topics which include:

• toxicology

• pathology

• hematology   

• histology

• bacteriology

• biochemistry

• molecular biology

• tissue culture

• genetics

• histochemistry

• clinical chemistry

• parasitology

• immunology

• microscopy

• instrumental analysis

• cytology
