Clinical Interests: Histocompatibility and immunogenetics for solid organ and stem cell transplantation, Transplant immunology and deceased-donor allocation
Dr. Jenny Tran is a Clinical Scientist at the BC Provincial Immunology Laboratory (Vancouver Coastal Health), where she serves on the leadership team responsible for provincial histocompatibility testing for solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She provides clinical consultations, 24/7 director-on-call support for deceased donor allocation, and collaborates closely with transplant physicians, surgeons, and national organ-sharing programs. Dr. Tran is also an ASHI Director-in-Training, undertaking comprehensive didactic, technical, and clinical training toward board certification in histocompatibility and immunogenetics. Her work integrates clinical service, advanced molecular immunogenetics, translational research, and extensive teaching of fellows, residents, and medical trainees.

Research Interest
Dr. Tran’s research focuses on optimizing compatibility assessment in transplantation through immunogenetic risk modeling, donor-derived molecular biomarkers, and computational approaches to HLA eplet and epitope matching. Her work contributes to national and international efforts to improve transplant outcomes and organ allocation strategies.
Current Projects In My Lab Include
Teaching Interest
Dr. Tran has extensive experience teaching transplant immunology, histocompatibility, and molecular laboratory science to fellows, residents, undergraduate and graduate students. She supervises PATH 700 fellows, oversees research placements, and provides case-based instruction integrating laboratory findings with clinical decision-making.
